THE GOG MAGOG GOLF CLUB
BYE-LAWS
Service of Alcoholic Liquor
1.1 All arrangements for the purchase and supply of alcoholic liquor shall be such and only such as are permitted by law, as are decided from time to time by the Management Council of the Club (‘the Council') and as are duly notified in the manner prescribed by law.
1.2 Without the previous consent of the Council no Member or visitor may bring any alcoholic liquor into the Clubhouse for consumption on the Club's premises.
Visitors
2.1 Visitors' Books shall be kept in the Clubhouse and in the Professional's shop or such other place on the Club's premises as the Council considers desirable.
2.2 A visitor introduced by and playing with a Voting Member (as defined in Rule 4.1. of the Rules of the Club), a Young Member (M) or Young Member (L) (as defined in Rule 7.) may, on payment of a Green Fee and on having his or her name entered in the Visitors' Book kept in the Professional's shop (or such other place as aforesaid), play on the Courses and use the Clubhouse during his or her visit, which shall be in all respects subject to Rule 9. of the Rules of the Club, to these Bye-laws and to the regulations of play. No Member may introduce more than two playing visitors to play on a Course that on the day is reserved for 2- and 3-ball games (except for the express purpose of playing foursomes only, when three may be introduced) or more than three playing visitors to play on the unrestricted Course only.
3.1 A Junior Member (M) or Junior Member (L) (as defined in Rule 7.) aged 12 or over may introduce, for the purpose of playing with, one visitor (and only one visitor) subject to the provisions of Bye-law 2.2., who must have a CONGU handicap and who may not be introduced by any Member on more than six occasions in any Club financial year.
3.2 A non-playing visitor's name shall be entered in the Visitors' Book kept in the Clubhouse.
3.3 Playing visitors not introduced by and playing with a Voting Member, a Young Member or a Junior Member under this Bye-law may be admitted at the discretion of the Secretary, a Member of the Council or of a Committee or (in the absence of all such persons) the senior Professional and must ordinarily be playing members of a United Kingdom affiliated golf club or other officially recognised golf club. The visits of all such visitors shall be subject to the provisions of Bye-law 2.2.
3.4 All visitors admitted under this Bye-law may during their visit and as permitted by law buy alcoholic liquor at the bar.
Dress
3.1 Members and visitors must be respectably dressed at all times. Men Members and male visitors may wear shorts in the lounge, the spike bar and the dining room before 8pm. Shorts if worn must be properly tailored and of knee-length, with knee-length golf stockings or predominantly white sports socks.
3.2 Blue denim clothing and collarless or sleeveless shirts must not be worn on any part of the Club's premises. Clothing specifically retailed as golf attire is generally acceptable, but Members and visitors must comply with the detailed Dress Rules displayed in the changing rooms. Members are responsible for ensuring that visitors introduced by them comply with the Dress Rules.
3.3 Golf shoes, training shoes or sports shoes of any kind must not be worn in the lounge or the dining room; but golf shoes, with or without spikes (though not training shoes or other sports shoes), may be worn in the spike bar.
Junior Members and Visitors under 16
4.1. Junior Members under 16 and also visitors under 16 accompanied by a Member or adult visitor may use the lounge and may visit the bar to buy soft drinks and/or food, but they must not remain at the bar or in the spike bar.
4.2. The provisions of Bye-law 4.1. may be relaxed by the Council during Junior competitions.
Dogs
5.1. No dogs are permitted in the Clubhouse.
5.2. No dog is permitted on any part of the Courses or of the surrounding land unless it is on a lead.
5.3. Fouling of the Courses or of the surrounding land is not permitted. Members and visitors who bring dogs to any part of the Club's premises are responsible for clearing up after the dogs. Any dog brought to the Club's premises by a Member or visitor who fails to do this will be banned from the Courses and the surrounding land.
The Health Act 2006
6.1. The Club's policy under this Act (‘the Act') is set out in the notice headed ‘SMOKE-FREE POLICY' and is binding on Members to the extent required by the Act.
6.2. To the same extent all Members shall be liable under Rule 10. of the Rules of the Club for any contravention by them, or by any visitors introduced by them, of the provisions of the Act or of any regulations made under the Act.
The Club's Disciplinary Obligations
7. For the removal of doubt Rule 10. shall be the basis on which the Council enforces any disciplinary obligation imposed on the Club in relation to Members under the general law.
