The Old Course at 6398 yards provides the current home for the Lagonda Trophy, which attracts an international field of amateurs with a handicap of scratch or better. The second course, named the Wandlebury Course after the Iron Age hill fort on the nature reserve to the south west of the 4th hole, measures 6735 yards and is proving to be a strong match for its elder brother.

The Gog Magog Golf Club derives its name from the chalk hills on which the courses lie; Gog and Magog are the two legendary giants whose roots reach back into ancient mythology.
Cambridge University founded the club in 1901 as a recreational facility for the Dons and Hawtree Ltd designed the first course. In 1997 the second course was opened to the design of Martin Hawtree, the grandson of the original architect.
